Genuine Athletics started as an independent personal training company, with its founder Jason Bell sub-leasing out of various gyms across Delta, Surrey and Langley. After the first year and learning the ropes of business, the company began to expand organically by onboarding new personal trainers and mentoring them to assure the best experience possible for our clients. As our positive reputation continued to grow, so did the support of our community. Influencing Jason to take the leap of faith by signing a big lease, opening our first location in South Surrey at the height of the Covid Pandemic. The first year was challenging, trying to grow a new business from the ground up in a new City with overwhelming overhead and the pressures of a competitive market. Staying true to the vision of creating an all in one stop for everything health, wellness and performance, we began to differentiating ourselves from our competitors when Genuine Athletics changed its DBA to Genuine Athletics & Rehabilitation. Launching various new services such as physiotherapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy and more alongside hiring some of the best practitioners in our industry. Coming to the end of our second year in business in South Surrey with our own location, Genuine Athletics & Rehabilitation now employs over 25 personal trainers, healthcare professionals and administrative assistants. Earning awards this year such as Best Gym in Surrey by Consumers Choice, Top Rated Clinic in Surrey by Pain Hero, Top Personal Trainers & Gym in Surrey by Community Votes and more proving the amazing positive impact we have made on our community. Genuine Athletics started as a one man show 7 years ago and has grown to become a leader in just a few short years. This was accomplished without the help of investors, partners or family money. We could not be more thankful for the opportunities our community has provided us with through their support and to hope continue providing Genuine health, wellness and performance services throughout the coming years.

Jason Bell

CEO & PERFORMANCE COACH

Jason Bell established Genuine Athletics in 2017 after leaving the corporate world of big box gyms. Opening the first Genuine Athletics & Rehabilitation location in South Surrey early 2021. As an athlete Jason is a former Professional Strongman and National Record holder in Powerlifting. Who has also competed in Crossfit, Olympic Weightlifting and Bodybuilding. This lead to the opportunity of working with professional athletes from sports teams such as the BC Lions, Vancouver Warriors, Vancouver White Caps, and Toronto Blue Jays as well as celebrity actors such as Ryan Hurst, Jesse Hutch, Ayisha Issa and more.

Opening the rehabilitation side of GA in 2023 and now proudly offering Physiotherapy, Registered Massage Therapy, Chiropractic Care, Shockwave & Cold Laser, Kinesiology, Acupuncture, Clinical Counselling, Dietetics, VALD Performance Testing, 3D Body Scanning and more. Jason’s goal with Genuine Athletics is to become your all in one stop for everything health, wellness and performance. By building a supportive community of like minded individuals genuinely interested in witnessing each other win.

From the beginning, Alex has been an integral part of the growth of Genuine Athletics helping develop the fundamental values our team stands so strongly by. With a background in soccer and long distance running, Alex is no stranger to hard work and leads by example living a healthy balanced life style. You can find her, and our beautiful daughter wandering around our facility or behind the reception desk on select days!

Jeff Rolland

Director of physiotherapy & education

Jeff graduated from the UBC Physiotherapy program in 2014 and since then he has expanded his love of sports and
training into a full-time career focusing on bridging the gap between rehab and performance. 
Jeff grew up in Surrey playing a variety of sports, creating a lifetime love of athletics. Thus, his overarching goal is
to get people of all ages and activity levels moving again through the integration of physiotherapy with strength & conditioning principles.  Jeff believes in evidence-based treatment and continuously searches for new advances in physiotherapy to incorporate into his practice. Utilizing a blend of manual therapy, intramuscular stimulation (IMS), and exercise Jeff will help you recover from any and all injuries. During your first visit Jeff will listen to your unique story, ask a lot of questions and examine your whole body to understand the relationship between everything that isn’t functioning properly. Working together he will help you to optimize your movement and function, enabling your return to performance.
Outside the clinic Jeff can be found golfing, in the gym, running or hiking the local mountains and enjoying time
with his wife, children and dog.

Among those that make up the backbone of our company, Morgan has taken charge of managing our administrative operations. With a competitive background in dance, Morgan currently volunteers with Autistic Youth and works part time with the Suicide Prevention Hotline. As she currently is working towards a career in Occupational Therapy you can find and get to know Morgan and say hello whenever you see her at our front desk!

As a Personal Trainer, Online Coach and Nutritionist. I value education and experience as both have played critical roles in my personal development as a coach and multisport athlete. Inspiring my clients and community by proving I can walk the walk. I have competed at the World Level in powerlifting, competed in Strongman and won gold in two bodybuilding shows. Now as I focus my studies of perusing my Chiropractic Degree I have also taken this opportunity to begin training jiujitsu. I pride myself on utilizing my knowledge, experience and passion to cater to the needs of a wide variety of clients. Ranging from absolute beginners, stay at home moms and high-performance athletes.

Exercise, sports and healthy nutrition became a passion of mine from a very young age. Even filming my first exercise video when I was ten years old with my Mother. Once I noticed the life changing impact fitness had on my physical, emotional and psychological well-being I was knew I was destined to be a fitness coach.

After working in the industry for the last 2.5 years, and starting with Genuine Athletics in the beginning of 2022 its been SO rewarding. I love empowering women and give them the knowledge and tools to help change their relationship with their nutrition, their exercise habits and ultimately their life. In my mind, eating to fuel your body and your mind should never feel like a chore. Exercise should be fun. Taking care of your body should make you feel good. I always have fun training my clients. Sports have been a part of my life since I was young, this drove me into the weight room at a young age tinkering with exercises to find that edge whether it was speed, strength, agility or anything else to increase my capabilities. That said as I have aged out of my sports career, mobility and corrective exercises have been a new found passion for myself as I struggled to recover from numerous injuries from head to toe. I have been certified as a personal trainer at the international sports science association and I am continuing my studies at Douglas College in their sports science program and continue to push myself to try new exercises and activities inside and out of the gym. My coaching comes from a place of caring and compassion but I will push you to your limits to help you reach that level of fitness you’ve always dreamt about! Whether you’re looking for a new bench press PR or simply to keep up with your kids or grandkids I will help equip you with the lifelong skills to not only reach but crush those goals, so what are you waiting for?

With my NASM-CPT, experience as a college varsity athlete and extensive knowledge of health and fitness, I plan to help you get to the next level and reach your goals. Health, fitness and athletics have always played an important role in my life. Following my love of fitness and athletics, I played Division 1 Softball at Ohio University while obtaining my Bachelors in Psychology. As your trainer, my goal is to work with you to understand your personal fitness needs and goals and use my experience to help you achieve them. I will strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable as well as excited and motivated to come in and work towards your goals. I plan to work on both your physical and performance goals in the gym while also advocating for your overall mental wellbeing! I am a firm believer that being healthy goes beyond just physicality and I would love the opportunity to show you that.

My passion for fitness began in the early years of my Kinesiology degree when I realized the importance of taking care of your body in your everyday life. After experiencing how life-changing regular exercise was, I decided I had to share this with others. Throughout my years as a personal trainer, I’ve become aware of the negative effects of diet culture on society. I became so passionate about it that I started a fundraiser to help those that struggle with their relationship with food. This has inspired me to make fitness goals as sustainable as possible for my clients. By using the knowledge I acquire in my own time and in my degree, listening closely, and treating with care and purpose, I work hard to build a strong alliance with each of my clients to ultimately get them the life they want. My passion lies in empowering my clients to take control of their health and giving them the tools and education to obtain their goals.

After two years growing my confidence in the gym, in 2015 I decided to pursue powerlifting. After 3 competitions and successfully breaking the Junior 52kg squat, bench, deadlift and total provincial records I decided to change gears and challenge myself in competitive bodybuilding, placing 1st at Popeyes Fall Classic 2016 and 3rd at BCABBA Provincial Championships 2017.

My experience in both sports expanded my knowledge of the health and fitness industry and led me to become a certified personal trainer. I find happiness in encouraging others to see their full potential and guiding them to reach their goals. Whether that entails chasing strength goals and setting new records, or becoming more familiar and comfortable in the gym, I am prepared to help my clients work towards their goals with a friendly and sustainable approach. My commitment to promoting overall health and fitness led me to earn certification from the American Council on Exercise (ACE), equipping me with the confidence, knowledge and expertise to make a more profound impact.

Fitness isn’t just my career; it’s my way of life. Being a naturally skinnier guy, I found it challenging to pack on muscle and strength until I learned the science behind proper training and nutrition. Learning to program with purpose and started training smarter not harder, seeing major improvement in all of my lifts and personal aesthetics. I understand that every fitness journey is unique, and recognize the importance of designing my clients programs around their lifestyle. Growing up I have always had a passion for sports and competing, consistently striving to improve my
fitness and performance. I grew up playing soccer, dancing competitively, and performing for Circus Lab.
I found Crossfit 6 years ago and immediately began competing in local competitions, ultimately
qualifying for my first international competition at Wodapalooza Miami. After 5 years of consistent
training, I competed in the 2023 Semi-Finals for the Crossfit Games.
My own personal athletic goals and achievements have equipped me with the knowledge and abilities
to assist others in achieving their own fitness and lifestyle goals. After coaching Crossfit for 4 years, I
decided I wanted to further develop my skills and completed the ACE certification for personal training.
It is important to me to foster a positive environment and to develop a relationship with each client, so
that I might better understand their personal goals and set them up for long-term success. I am inspired
and motivated by my clients every day, and their dedication to living a healthier and happier life. I
believe anyone is capable of achieving their goals, no matter where they are on their fitness journey,

Kinesiologist & Personal Trainer

I am a Kinesiologist and Personal Trainer with over 5 years of experience. I take a prehab approach to strength and conditioning by ensuring the foundations and fundamentals of correct lifting mechanics are established before making progressions. I help clients address and knock down barriers by creating well rounded, individualized fitness programs to maximize results. My current training regime is directly related to my goals, as they change throughout the year, which is also the approach I take with clients. Currently I am training more athletically to help with the summer sports I engage in, such as tennis, spikeball and golf. I am also FST (Fascial Stretch Therapy) certified practitioner, which helps clients recover from injuries, dealing with chronic pain and performing better.

Cameron Bullinger

Kinesiologist & Kickboxing Coach

My passion for health and performance began in my early days of highschool. I started my fitness journey working out under the supervision of my older brother, and the time we spent together grew my enjoyment for exercise into a passion. 10 years later, I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Exercise Science, and a dream of working with people to improve athletic performance and longterm health. I felt right at home working with individuals in our lab, and I feel right at home at genuine athletics. 
I played a variety of sports throughout my life, including hockey, soccer and rugby. In addition to team sports, I’ve also taken Kickboxing classes at Golden Glory Martial Arts for many years, giving me the unique ability to train individuals of all ages in martial arts and self defense. As a personal trainer and fitness coach, my goal is to help you become the best you can be. Weather you are an elite athlete, or you’re new to exercise, I am confident that I have the skills and the drive to help you achieve your goals!

Cameron Davies graduated from the University of British Columbia Okanagan with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Kinetics. Cam grew up playing various sports including: Hockey, Rugby, and excelling at Water Polo leading into a 5 year coaching career. Cameron prides himself on being very personable and enjoys getting to know the patients who he gets the opportunity to work with  on a personal level so that he may provide the best care possible. By utilizing VALD performance testing techniques, and under direct mentorship of Jeff Rolland and Jason Bell, Cam will be able to pinpoint areas of weakness to work on to help clients achieved a properly proportioned fitness level that adheres with their goals.

Andrea Fovenyi

Acupuncturist & TCM Practitioner

I used to spend my days in my cubicle at my dream accounting job researching what I now know to be syndromes recognized by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in an attempt to heal my own body and avoid getting a procedure. I felt that Western medicine lacked the individual approach that I strongly felt TCM had, and quickly realized that my growing interest for medicine should not be overlooked. In 2021, I completed my first of 3 board exams on my journey towards becoming a Doctor of TCM. I believe that true health is a balance of physical, emotional/mental and spiritual wellbeing. When one pillar is affected, the others are thrown off balance. I care deeply for my patients and take a holistic approach to therapy by combining acupuncture, cupping, diet, lifestyle and emotional wellbeing as a complete treatment plan. Together, we will bring awareness to your symptoms (which are really your body’s cues that something is out of balance) and connect the dots between your health concerns to uncover the root cause of your health disturbances.

Carlee Gudmandson

Registered Massage Therapist

Carlee became a Registered Massage Therapist in 2016 after graduating from WCCMT in New
Westminster. She has gained experience working in clinical and spa like settings and has worked
with a broad range of patients. She has treated conditions such as MS, repetitive stress injuries,
postural dysfunctions, and pregnancy symptoms and does not limit herself to these. Carlee uses a
variety of techniques to create a diverse treatment plan. She uses Swedish massage, fascial,
stretching and hot/cold stones to name a few. Carlee also has an interest in yoga and likes to
integrate yoga into home care and treatment as therapeutic exercise.

Dr. Jaswinder Dev

Chiropractor

Dr. Dev was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Winnipeg and completed his chiropractic studies at Life Chiropractic College West in California. His graduating class recognized him as the youngest student to graduate that class year. Shortly after graduating, he returned to Winnipeg to open his chiropractic clinic from scratch in the same neighbourhood of Wolseley where he grew up. At that time, his main focus was sports injuries, and he worked closely with the University of Winnipeg Wesmen basketball team athletes. Dr. Dev’s wife later established her dental clinic inside the chiropractic clinic. His practice quickly changed from a sports clinic to a family clinic, where he felt privileged to work alongside his wife on TMJ patients. He also developed a particular interest in providing chiropractic pelvis adjustments for prenatal and postnatal women. The highlight of his days was adjusting infants and children. After over 20 years of practicing in Winnipeg, Dr. Dev’s son’s university studies brought his family to beautiful BC. He is proud to call BC home and looks forward to treating the lovely people of BC.

Demi is a recent graduate from West Coast College of Massage Therapy with a passion for sports massage & deep tissue release. As a competitive Dancer of many genre’s she looks forward to using her sport background to help care for her clients here at Genuine Athletics & Rehabilitation. Her areas of expertise and treatments styles include but are not limited to: General Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Fascial Work, Sports / Sports Injury Massage, and Pre/Post Natal Massage. I knew from a young age that I had a calling to help people, starting with a biology undergraduate degree, I
was interested in the body, emotional processing, the brain and the connection between them. Why does
emotional pain feel like physical pain? Being exposed to psychology during my undergraduate, I soon realized
my passion and calling was to help people with the process of emotionally healing the body and mind
connection. I am a strong believer in our resilience as human beings and strive to help those struggling to find their way by
attentively listening, understanding, and providing tools to not only overcome shame, fear, pain and
discouragement but succeed and thrive through mental growth and change. I create a non-judgmental and inclusive environment where I meet clients exactly where they are at in their process using a person-centred approach. I highly value whatever my clients bring to the table being that as human beings, our stories and paths are as unique and dynamic as we are. I am versed in providing individualized tools to those seeking a change in their life, overcoming addiction, maladaptive behaviour, or mental limitations, by motivating them through whatever is consuming and holding them back from being the best possible version of themselves.

Johnny Sutherland

REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPIST

I became a registered massage therapist after I graduated from CDI college in March of 2023. My love of playing and watching sports has geared my treatment towards helping athletes reach the most functional version of themselves. Having experience in a variety of sports such as rugby, football, track and field and hockey gives me the knowledge and tools necessary to help a wide variety of athletes in the most efficient way possible. Throughout my athletic career, I have had various injuries, from concussions to ankle sprains to hamstring strains, so I understand the frustration of wanting to get back to health as soon as possible. Through various treatment strategies and techniques, I will do everything in my power to make the recovery time as short as possible, while working to prevent future injury. Massage therapy is great for treating injured bodies, it is just as effective in maintaining and improving overall functionality in generally healthy bodies.

Andrew Lau

PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Andrew returned to Vancouver after studying and practicing Physiotherapy in Sydney Australia. He has completed a Master’s of Physiotherapy program at the University of Sydney, and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria. Andrew has post-graduate training in Manual Therapy, Exercise Prescription, Functional Strength and Conditioning, Functional Movement Screening (FMS), and the Team Exos: Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Framework, and Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified.

Andrew’s passion has always been centered around recreation and health. He has experience working in occupational rehabilitation as well as with various  elite/Olympic level athletes in sport performance. He has a passion for helping client’s reach their physical and functional goals, from daily activities, and rehabilitation, to amateur sports performance. His treatment style focuses on a combination of manual therapy, exercise therapy and education to empower clients to achieve their goals. While managing your pain is a priority, through a thorough full body assessment, Andrew ultimately aims to understand the driving forces behind the pain. In his free time, Andrew enjoys participating and watching most forms of sports including: mixed martial arts, basketball, swimming, and golfing. If it isn’t sports related, Andrew enjoys exploring Vancouver and places to eat.

Official Therapy Dog & Gym Greeter

The most gentle, loving and friendly puppers on the planet. Our wanna be guard doggo Nala actively aims to put a smile on the face of everyone who walks through our doors. Be careful, if she brings you a toy and you choose to play with her she will believe you are now the two best friends anybody could every have and will follow you around the rest of your workout. We highly suggest giving her a treat from the bowl behind our front desk before you leave, because she deserves it for working so darn hard.
