At Genuine Athletics & Rehabilitation, we are confident that anyone who walks through our doors can be helped with our knowledge, care, and dedication. We are excited to see you achieve your health, wellness, and fitness goals.

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy combines in-depth knowledge of the human body and how it works with specialized, hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat the symptoms of illness, injury, or disability. Physiotherapists are primary healthcare professionals. We are often sought out prior to a physician for musculoskeletal injury, such as an ankle sprain, knee or shoulder injury, back and neck pain regardless of whether they were from a sports injury, a motor vehicle accident, or a work-related injury.

All of our physiotherapists are university-educated and registered with the College of Physical Therapists of BC.

As physiotherapists, we have varied and extensive training in multiple areas of practice including sports physio, pelvic health physiotherapy, concussion rehabilitation, intramuscular stimulation, clinical pilates, acupuncture and more. See the treatments section below for more details.

Performance Testing

At Genuine Athletics & Rehabilitation we utilize cutting edge technology to assess your body’s strengths and areas in need of improvement. With our VALD Force plates we can assess a variety of movements such as balance, squatting and jumping to determine your movement capabilities, asymmetries and any patterns that are currently exceeding the capacity of your body.
As well we can test your isometric strength with the VALD ForceFrame. This allows us to determine if you have any strength asymmetries of any joint in your body, along with comparing you to age and gender matched normative data. To see how you stack up both from side to side and other people your age.
Whether you're just looking to move pain free again, or reach the next level in your sport and performance, the data we gain is invaluable to your recovery journey. As the testing we do with the VALD Force plates and ForceFrame allows us to create an entire athletic profile of your body to objectively determine where we need to focus on during treatment to optimize your movements and performance.

now offering Pelvic Health physiotherapy!

The pelvic floor is a critical component of the human body that is seldom discussed. It consists of a group of muscles located at the base of the pelvis, providing support for internal organs and accommodating changes in intra-abdominal pressure during daily activities. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is beneficial for individuals of all backgrounds, addressing a wide range of conditions and concerns. Our team possesses extensive postgraduate training in pelvic health and is dedicated to working with you to improve your well-being.

What Can You Expect?
1. A Whole-Body Assessment
Pelvic floor symptoms can originate from issues anywhere in the body. Therefore, we utilize our comprehensive physiotherapy skills and manual therapy to assess and treat the entire body and understand the underlying cause of your symptoms, addressing them directly.
2. Real Time Ultrasound
We use real time ultrasound to help assess the pelvic floor and abdominal wall muscles, allowing us to assess its function. It also provides an option for those not comfortable with internal exams.
3. Internal Vaginal and/or Rectal Exams
An internal examination allows us to examine the pelvic floor muscles, along with the perineum. This provides information about the strength of your muscles and your ability to lengthen them. This is also important for assessing areas of pain, concerns of prolapse and during a post partum examination. An internal exam is never mandatory, and this is discussed during your appointment with the pelvic floor physiotherapist.
