SPORTS MEDICINE & PAIN MANAGEMENT

TARGET THE PAIN. RESTORE MOVEMENT. RECLAIM YOUR PERFORMANCE.
Advanced Injection Therapies. Personalized Treatment. Comprehensive Care.

Pain, injuries, and mobility limitations shouldn't have to dictate how you live, move, or perform. At Genuine Athletics & Rehabilitation, we offer a range of injection-based treatments designed to support pain management, musculoskeletal health, and recovery. Whether you're managing persistent joint discomfort, muscle tension, chronic pain, or a sports-related injury, our approach focuses on identifying potential sources of discomfort and developing individualized treatment strategies that align with your needs and goals.

Our Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Lauren Rea, provides comprehensive assessments and offers a variety of injection therapies, including ultrasound-guided procedures where appropriate, to support precise treatment delivery. Each treatment is selected based on your medical history, clinical findings, and individual suitability. As part of Genuine's multidisciplinary rehabilitation environment, injection therapies may be complemented by physiotherapy, kinesiology, and strength-based rehabilitation to address both symptoms and underlying functional limitations.

Our goal is simple: help you move better, manage pain, and return to the activities that matter most.

Perineural

An innovative, minimally invasive treatment that targets the root cause of chronic nerve pain and musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. Using small, superficial injections of a low-concentration dextrose solution or an anesthetic around irritated cutaneous nerves, this therapy works by reducing neurogenic inflammation and restoring healthy nerve function. Conditions commonly treated include chronic back and neck pain, sciatica, fibromyalgia, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, joint and tendon pain, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, Morton's neuroma, post-herpetic neuralgia, and arthritis

Prolotherapy

Proven regenerative injection therapy designed to stimulate your body's own healing response in damaged or unstable tendons, ligaments, and joints. Commonly used for: chronic low back and neck pain, sports injuries, ligament and tendon tears or laxity, osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, and other joints, SI joint dysfunction, and joint hypermobility. It pairs especially well with physical rehabilitation and nutritional support.

Trigger Point Therapy

Targeted, effective relief for myofascial pain, that deep, aching, radiating muscle pain that can be difficult to resolve with manual therapy alone. A small amount of local anesthetic (typically 1% lidocaine) is injected directly into the trigger point, causing an immediate release of the muscular contraction and interrupting the pain-spasm cycle.

Corticosteroid

Deliver a powerful anti-inflammatory medication directly to the site of pain, providing targeted, fast-acting relief for a wide range of joint, bursa, and tendon conditions. Common conditions treated with corticosteroid injections include shoulder bursitis, knee and hip joint inflammation, plantar fasciitis, and arthritis flare-ups.

Hyaluronic Acids

Restore the natural lubrication and shock-absorbing properties of synovial fluid in arthritic or degenerating joints. By injecting pharmaceutical-grade hyaluronic acid directly into the joint space, this treatment helps reduce friction, cushion the joint, decrease pain, and improve range of motion. Hyaluronic acid injections are most commonly used for osteoarthritis of the knee but are also effective for the hip, shoulder, ankle, and elbow. SportVis (a leading HA preparation) is Health Canada-approved for knee osteoarthritis and lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow).

Therapeutic Botox

Therapeutic Botox is a targeted medical treatment used to relieve muscle-related pain and dysfunction. Commonly used for conditions like chronic tension, migraines, TMJ, and muscle tightness, Botox works by relaxing overactive muscles to reduce pain, improve movement, and support long-term recovery.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Answers to common questions about sports medicine in Surrey and White Rock

What types of conditions can injection therapy help treat?

Injection therapies may be considered for a variety of musculoskeletal concerns, including joint pain, tendon discomfort, muscle tension, sports-related injuries, and certain chronic pain conditions. Treatment recommendations depend on your diagnosis, medical history, and individual needs.

What are the benefits of ultrasound-guided injections?

Ultrasound guidance allows our Naturopathic Doctor to visualize muscles, tendons, joints, and surrounding structures in real time. This can improve injection accuracy and help avoid sensitive structures, supporting a more targeted approach to treatment.

Are injection therapies painful?

Most patients experience mild, temporary discomfort during injections. The level of discomfort depends on the treatment area and type of injection. Our practitioner prioritizes patient comfort and will explain what to expect before your procedure.

Are injection therapies covered by extended health insurance?

Coverage varies depending on your insurance provider, policy, and treatment type. Some naturopathic consultations or procedures may qualify for reimbursement, while injection products and associated fees may not. We recommend confirming your coverage directly with your insurer.

How many treatments will I need to see results?

The number of treatments varies depending on your condition, the injection therapy selected, and your individual response. Some patients may notice improvement after one treatment, while others may require additional sessions or complementary rehabilitation. Results are not guaranteed, and your practitioner will discuss realistic expectations during your assessment.
